This fireplace is in the master bedroom and is one of three wood burning fireplaces that I designed and combined into a single masonry unit. Two are on the first floor and this one is on the second floor.
An arched brick passage way, connects this bedroom to a library where a small fireplace is located, directly behind the one you now see. These three fireplaces share this chimney.
All three fireboxes are metal heatilator units that vent warm air into the room through spaces between the brick, just above the brick mantle.
The air intakes are at the sides of the firebox.
